Delhi Psychiatric Society

It is a privilege to serve as the President of the Delhi Psychiatric Society at a time when psychiatry is rapidly evolving through advances in neuroscience and research-driven clinical practice.

The Society has a strong tradition of academic excellence and professional integrity. Building on this legacy, my vision is to orient the Delhi Psychiatric Society towards a stronger research culture, deeper engagement with neuroscience, and the integration of emerging scientific evidence into everyday clinical work.

Psychiatry today lies at the interface of brain, mind, and society. Developments in neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and translational research offer new opportunities to improve understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness. Our focus will be on strengthening research initiatives, revitalising academic platforms such as the Delhi Psychiatry Journal, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring the next generation of psychiatrists.

Equally important is fostering an inclusive, collegial, and ethically grounded professional community. Together, we will work to advance psychiatry as a science, a clinical discipline, and a public health priority.
